Risk Management (RM) is responsible for developing and communicating CBA’s risk management frameworks to allow CBA to take conscious exposures to credit, market, operational, compliance and insurance risks within the approved risk appetite.

This team provides Line 2 operational risk and compliance oversight for the Group Support Units (GSU) which includes Marketing, Corporate Affairs, Finance, Property, HR, Strategy, Mergers Acquisitions and Divestments, Legal, Group Secretariat, Speak-Up, Environmental and Social, Customer Advocate and Risk Management.

As an Operational Risk Senior Analyst, you will support the Senior Manager and Executive Manager to embed and monitor adherence with the Operational and Compliance Risk Management Frameworks.  

Your day could look like but not limited to:

  • Supporting operational and compliance risk management activities such as assessment of risks, controls, issues and incidents, with a focus on identifying root cause and providing relevant insights based on risk and compliance data;

  • Having a pragmatic approach and exercising judgment to ensure compliance with the risk frameworks while maximising the benefit for the business and customers;

  • Monitoring external and internal data to proactively identify and pursue meaningful risk activity;

  • Supporting ‘deep dives’ and other reviews to provide assurance and an independent Line 2 opinion on risk and compliance management;

  • Supporting the preparation of reporting for Non-Financial Risk Committees or other risk reporting as needed;

  • Building strong working relationships with Group functions, Line 1 risk and business stakeholders.

What successful candidates will look like?

We work in an outcomes driven environment, where the emphasis is on great team-work to achieve results. Ideally you will bring experience with risk and compliance, gained within financial services. You will also be able to demonstrate sound stakeholder management and critical thinking capabilities, with the ability to derive insights from qualitative data.

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Risk management/Audit/Consulting experience in banking or professional services highly advantageous

  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring/assurance activities, including control testing, issues and incidents monitoring;

  • A demonstrated self-starter with a strong sense of accountability and curiosity.
