What’s the role
The Excavation Lead Authorised Person (AP) and Field Execution Supervisor will be required to supervise third party excavation and haulage contractors, SHELL QGC staff and support other AP`s and Competent Person.
This role will be responsible for reviewing and approving of excavation permits, excavation supervision, execution of gathering campaign work, support PM/CM work, and field execution management.
What you’ll be doing
As lead AP, you will oversee and support other AP`s across the QGC business, providing leadership and guidance from their significant experience in this field.
The Lead AP shall Implement the QGC Excavation procedure and ensure the contractor has the following in place before they start any excavation:
All required QGC Permits and supporting 3rd party documentation (BYDA), etc are valid for the work being planned.
Marked the route or location of buried assets such as cables, live lines, pipelines, or other hazardous infrastructure.
Confirmed and positively identified the location of underground and overhead infrastructure before starting work.
Apply the specified Procedures for soil testing and classification.
Inspect Excavations and Shoring, including areas adjacent to the Excavation, for signs of ground instability, before each shift and before resuming work after adverse weather conditions.
Responsibilities will also include
Refer to the Subject Matter Expert for Excavation in case of unforeseen conditions or problems with the planned work.
Refer to the TA2 Pipelines and Gathering for technical support or approval for activities like, heavy vehicle crossings, Emergency Response, complex excavations, integrity issues identified during excavation or anything outside of business-as-usual work scopes.
Liaison with Maintenance Excellence OMC’s, schedulers, and contractors to manage project work fronts.
Liaison with Wellsite Supervisor, Leads and Operators to ensure work fronts are communicated.
Fulfill the role of Lead AP Excavation for all Gathering & Transmission excavation work.
Review and approve excavation certificate & risk assessment.
Align with Control of works team and Contractors for permit reviews/audits.
Attend to site for quality assurance and auditing purposes to ensure excavation activities are proceeding in accordance with Procedural conditions.
Sign off on Confined Space Identification Risk Assessment.
Review of timesheets supplied by 3rd party contractors to ensure claims are accurate based on supervision of their work scopes.
What you bring
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Significant experience within the oil & gas industry and working in excavating live assets.
Competency in Squeeze off and hot tap, HDPE welding, flange management and N2 purging & testing. Knowledge in LPD & HPV excavation, installation, repairs and maintenance.
Demonstrated experience with commitment to safety. Demonstrated experience working within a HSSE Management Control Framework.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of excavation plant including associated equipment. Live gas/water pipeline excavation supervision and technical support.
Expertise in identifying, locating, protecting, and installing underground services using open excavation techniques.
Experience in excavation work activities, permit reviewing, and confined space risk assessments.
Proven track record in managing contractors, resolving issues, and influencing positive outcomes in challenging conditions.
Strong communication, management, supervisory, and computer skills; sound knowledge of soil types, excavation controls, and pipeline asset integrity.
Driven, results-oriented, with a positive attitude towards optimizing work and safety, and achieving improvements in all facets of the role.
